Jackson County

 September 18, 2008

The Alabama Department of Revenue Motor vehicle Division has issued a mandate to the Jackson County Revenue Commissioner’s Office effective October 1, 2008 that all designated agents for the State of Alabama must use the new Electronic Title Application Processing System (ETAPS) to process Alabama title applications.

The Department of Revenue advises that title applications processed by the old system on or before September 30, 2008 will still be accepted by the Revenue Commissioner’s Office for issuing a license plate for the vehicle. All title applications processed after October 1, 2008 must be processed by ETAPS or our office cannot issue a license plate for the vehicle.

The Revenue Commissioner’s Office will not be allowed to process title applications for designated agents that have not complied with the new system which is also mandated by the Alabama department of Revenue.

Good News for Title Applicants...

In November 2007, our office, in conjunction with the Title Section of the Alabama Department of Revenue instituted a new on-line title application process. The new system allows us to apply for titles and replacement titles on a web-based system called Electronic Title Application Processing System. The system will significantly reduce errors and shorten the processing time to issue motor vehicle titles to our customers. The cost for applying for a title or a replacement title is $18.00.

We now have Virtual Terminal. This allows us to accept credit/debit card payments at our counter in both the Tag & Title Office and our Real Estate Tax Office. Previously this option was only available to our online customers. The fees are the same as on our website. We look forward to serving you.
